This is the standard process for scanning and validating tickets using the SpurrOpen Seller mobile app. It is intended for both SpurrOpen staff and trained event organizers who are responsible for gate operations.
Steps to follow
- Downlaod the SpurrOpen SellerApp
- Log in using the same username and password you use on spurropen.com,
- Select the account staging the event
- Choose the event, and proceed to scanning.
Once you are set up, follow the steps below to correctly scan and validate tickets at the gate.
- Scan the Ticket. Point the scanner at the QR code presented by the patron. The QR code must be issued by SpurrOpen and may be on:
- A digital ticket on a mobile device, or
- A physical ticket with a printed QR code.
- Review Ticket Details. When the QR code is recognized, the ticket details will appear in the mobile app. A single ticket may contain multiple items (e.g., two VIP accesses and one general access).
Important: At this stage, the ticket information being displayed does not mean the ticket is valid. - Select the Item to Consume. The team member selects the specific item they intend to use (for example, VIP access). Enter the quantity to be consumed for that item.
- Confirm Consumption. Swipe the green confirmation button at the bottom of the screen to consume the selected item. The system will process the request and return a confirmation message.
- Validate the Ticket. Only after successful consumption is the ticket considered valid. Once consumption is confirmed, the gate team member can confidently acknowledge that the patron’s ticket is valid and proceed with the gate process.
Key Best-Practice Notes
- Scanning a ticket and viewing its details does not equal validation.
- Validation occurs only after item consumption is successfully completed.
- Always ensure the correct item and quantity are selected before confirming consumption.
- Coordinate with the event’s security team to grant physical access after validation is confirmed.
The consumption process ensures accurate access management, prevents duplicate use, and supports complex ticket structures while maintaining a smooth gate experience.
